Pietro Tommaso Campani, Horloge nocturne, Rome, 1682
Alliant innovation technique et prouesse artistique, cette horloge silencieuse et dotée d’un éclairage discret est ornée d’un cadran peint attribué au maître Carlo Maratta et d’un cabinet probablement réalisé par l’ébéniste Jakob Hermann. Ce type d’horloge a été initialement créé pour répondre aux exigences du Pape "insomniaque" Alexandre VII, désireux de consulter l’heure de nuit sans être perturbé par la lumière ou le bruit.
Acquisition réalisée en 2024 grâce au soutien des amisMIH et du Bureau de contrôle des ouvrages en métaux précieux, à l'occasion du 50e anniversaire de l'inauguration du MIH.

Diese lautlose Uhr mit einer dezenten Beleuchtung verbindet technische Innovation mit künstlerischer Meisterschaft. Sie ist mit einem bemalten Zifferblatt, das dem Meister Carlo Maratta zugeschrieben wird, sowie mit einem Gehäuse ausgestattet, das vermutlich vom Ebenisten Jakob Hermann gefertigt wurde. Dieser Uhrentyp wurde ursprünglich für die Bedürfnisse des «schlaflosen» Papstes Alexander VII. entwickelt, der nachts die Uhrzeit ablesen wollte, ohne durch Licht oder Geräusche gestört zu werden.
Erworben 2024 dank der Unterstützung der Amis du MIH und des Bureau de contrôle des ouvrages en métaux précieux anlässlich des 50. Jahrestages der Einweihung des MIH.

Combining technical innovation with artistic mastery, this silent clock with discreet illumination features a painted dial attributed to the master Carlo Maratta and a case probably made by the cabinetmaker Jakob Hermann. This type of clock was originally created to meet the needs of the “insomniac” Pope Alexander VII, who wished to check the time at night without being disturbed by light or noise.
Acquired in 2024 with the support of the Amis du MIH and the Bureau de contrôle des ouvrages en métaux précieux, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the MIH.
